曹阳于澳大利亚悉尼大学获得博士学位。博士后工作于澳大利亚新南威尔士大学,获校长博士后项目资助。现阶段就职于河海大学,任职教授。曹阳长期以来致力于结构材料微观变形机理和使役性能的研究,主要包括纳米结构材料和异质结构材料。并在相关领域发表了SCI论文65篇,其中第一作者和通讯作者论文26篇。总引用次数超过3300次。H-index = 34。曹阳的科研成果曾多次被国内媒体报导,包括我国的科技日报(20181011日的报纸头版)。2018年,曹阳和相关领域的几位国内外专家围绕金属材料微观变形机理进行了综述性报道,将结果发表在Materials Science and Engineering: R Report.杂志上,影响因子 26.48。曹阳曾经第一个提出了“利用双相材料将高压扭转变形施加的剪切应力视觉化”的方法。通过将剪切应变视觉化的方法,曹阳所在的团队观测到了不均匀应变分布导致的应力集中现象,以及随着剪切应变的不断增加,剪切应力的分布逐渐趋向于理想化的状态。相关的研究成果得到了所在领域专家们的高度评价,例如,康涅狄格大学(University of Connecticut)的Prof. Mark Aindow, 曾这样评价曹阳的工作 “I think that this is a very interesting contribution that could attract significant interest and so I have also asked for this paper to be accelerated through the production process”.相关成果帮助曹阳赢得了美国2010TMS青年学者口头报告奖(UFG VI Young Scientist Award - The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society2010 Annual Meeting & Exhibition, Seattle, Washington, USA, Feb. 2010)。

现阶段,曹阳在材料科学领域的主要研究方向有(1)层错能对纳米异质结构材料的微观结构和力学性能的影响;(2)纳米异质结构材料中的剪切带分散效应;(3)材料微观结构的跨尺度多级构筑及其对材料使役性能的影响 – 单相金属材料、双相钢、金属基复合材料;(4)增材制造金属材料。

曹阳师承国际著名电子显微学专家,澳大利亚悉尼大学的廖晓舟(Prof. Xiaozhou Liao)教授,具备扎实的电子显微学基础。曹阳是最早一批参与透射背散射电子衍射(TKD)技术研发的成员之一,曾合作发表关于TKD技术的文章(P.Trimby, Y.Cao et al. Acta Mater. 62 (2014) 69–80),在科研界有很高的认可度。在实验技术方面,曹阳现阶段致力于原位透射电镜技术、EBSD/TKD数据分析技术、以及数字图像关联技术(DIC)的应用和开发。

在立德树人方面,曹阳承担三门本科生基础课程《材料科学基础(Ⅰ)》、《金属材料》、《工程材料及成形工艺》;为国际留学生开设两门全英课程《材料加工(Ⅰ)》、《先进材料加工技术》。还参与了网络慕课《材料科学基础》的建设。参与江苏省品牌专业和国家一流专业《材料科学与工程》学科建设,负责《材料强韧化与组织调控》特色专业课程的建设。完成指导本科生毕业设计9名,科研训练5名,硕士研究生7名。协助指导博士研究生3名。一名博士研究生获得了CSC国家公派留学人员奖学金的全额资助,赴美国麻省大学(University of Massachusetts--Amherst)深造,毕业后回本团队做博士后,获得了江苏省青年基金项目资助。
